MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Star City officials are working to get more than two dozen stray cats off the city's streets.
Police chief Vic Propst says the city has hired ABC Humane Animal Removal of Morgantown to trap the cats and take them to the Monongalia County Canine Adoption Center.
Propst told The Dominion Post that residents have complained about the cats for a couple of years.
Mayor Herman Reid says it's a safety issue. He told the newspaper that the cats will destroy property. They also can carry diseases.
