Charleston police are asking for help locating a man believed to have shot another man on the city's West Side Sunday afternoon.
Police say J'Shaad Jones, 18, shot Malik Hawke, also 18, twice in the incident around 2 p.m. in the 200 block of Bream Street. Hawke suffered wounds in the arm and leg that are not life-threatening, said Lt. Steve Cooper of the Charleston Police Department. Hawke showed up a short time later in the emergency room of CAMC Women and Children's Hospital, police say. Several 911 callers said that multiple shots had been fired in the incident, according to police.
Other people were in the area at the time of the shooting, but no one else was struck, Cooper said. Jones faces felony counts of wanton endangerment and malicious wounding.
Anyone who knows encounters Jones or knows where he is located is asked to call 911.
