Alzheimer's benefit

Chili's restaurant in the Charleston Town Center will participate in a fundraiser to benefit the Alzheimer's Association today. Those who present a downloaded flier to Chili's Give Back event between 5 and 9 p.m. today will have 10 percent of their sales donated to the Alzheimer's Association. Summit on Race Matters

A "Summit on Race Matters for the Greenbrier Valley and Allegheny Highlands area has been planned for today and Wednesday at the Roland P. Sharp Alumni Center on the campus of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg. The public is encouraged to attend. The summit opens from 5 to 6 p.m. today with a reception and discussions will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. The Summit will meet from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Veterans Day, and will include a luncheon. Veterans Day program

The town of East Bank will have a Veterans Day program at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, at the World War II Memorial located outside of City Hall. The Riverside High School Band, Army ROTC, Riverside ROTC will participate along with special guest speakers. Light refreshments will be served following the program.

Health insurance enrollment

State residents who are interested in free, in-person help in learning how to enroll or re-enroll in health insurance under the Affordable Care Act are invited to attend an information and enrollment session held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday inside the gymnasium of Highland Hospital, 300 56th St. S.E. WV NaviCare, working under a cooperative agreement with the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, will provide information on how the new health insurance exchange operates under ACA. DAR meeting

The Kanawha Valley Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at noon Saturday at Sleepy Hollow Country Club for its monthly meeting and luncheon. Reservations are required by Wednesday. Hostesses are Sandy Cox and Betty Davis. Donna Walker will present a program on Native American Indians. Members are reminded to bring Campbell product labels, Box Tops for Education and coupons for military families stationed abroad.
