Essays on Faith: God's love knows no bounds

These lovely autumn days are the perfect time to plant tulip, crocus and daffodil bulbs. While enjoying this task, I envision the glorious flower garden that will appear in spring and look forward to the blossoms that will come. Praying for others is like planting bulbs. As I pray, I look beyond present circumstances to future possibilities. Letting go of any concerns, I thank God for all that is good and true.

As I pray for loved ones, I avow that God is blessing, comforting and healing them. If there is a health challenge, I affirm perfect health - a financial crisis, I see only prosperity - a strained relationship, I affirm peace and harmony. Just as I envision the flower when I plant a bulb, I pray, affirming the blossoming of good for all those for whom I pray.

During His last moments on the cross, Jesus prayed for others. He prayed a prayer of forgiveness, which is a reminder to all people everywhere that the power of prayer transforms lives. When I pray for people throughout the world, I envision them open to the guidance of the loving God and acting upon that guidance for the betterment of all humankind.

One of the greatest gifts I can give to another is to pray for him/her. As I bless others, I am blessed, as well, because we are interconnected. I do not have the answers for others, but the Spirit within them does. I pray for them knowing that in the flow of life, love always finds a way. Through the act of prayer, we are all blessed. The love and presence of God knows no bounds. If another person's words or actions have disturbed me, I avoid finding fault. And instead of praying for that person to change, I pray for love. Love dissolves any barriers that may have arisen between us. When I release any unforgiving thoughts or hostility, I allow God's grace and wisdom to pour through me.

As I focus on the goodness in all people, I feel deep compassion. In prayer, I help create a space where all are healed, including me. The connection I have with God and those I pray for strengthens with each loving, faith-filled thought.

God is the answer to every need - our health and strength, our comfort and hope. Divine wisdom is our unfailing guide.

How reassuring it is to experience the oneness we feel in God's presence!
