n The Summit on Race Matters moves from Charleston to Lewisburg this year, according to The Register-Herald. The event is meant to create conversations about racial inequality and will feature keynote speakers Dr. Michelle Foster, CEO of the Kanawha Institute for Social Research & Action and the Rev. Nelson Staples, pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Beckley. It takes place Nov. 10 and Nov. 11.
n The Recovery Point of Charleston, a long-term recovery program for women with addiction, is on track to be constructed by spring of 2016, West Virginia Public Broadcasting reports. The facility should be able to house 140 women when completed and will cost approximately $6.6 million to construct.
n A man allegedly robbed two gas stations in Parkersburg over the weekend, according to MetroNews. Jason Richard Mylar, 19, was charged with one count of second-degree robbery.
n A Harpers Ferry hotel will be featured on the Fox TV show Hotel Hell, according to The State Journal. Gordon Ramsay, an award-winning chef and hospitality expert, will help improve business at The Town's Inn. The show will be taped Nov. 5-9.
n Police officers in Monongalia County are training to carry naloxone, a drug that reverses the effects of opiates in the event of an overdose, WBOY reports. Chief Ed Preston of the Morgantown Police Department says additional funding for the medication is still needed.
n U.S. Marshals are seeking four men allegedly involved in paving and construction scams, according to The Morgan Messenger. Saul Williams, 35, of Inwood; Earl Nicholson II, of Gerrardstown; William "Billy" Nicholson, of Gerrardstown; and Albert Ricky Stanley, of Martinsburg, allegedly went to victims' doors and offered to seal coat or asphalt a driveway, collected the money and never returned. The scheme allegedly occurred in several states, including West Virginia.
