HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - Marshall University medical and pharmacy students are conducting a coat drive to benefit the region's homeless population.

The drive is part of the Marshall Medical Outreach, a coalition of students, doctors and volunteers who provide free monthly health care screenings and services to the homeless.

The coat initiative will run Oct. 24 through Jan. 23. Sixteen donation locations have been established throughout the region.

Meg Smith, a fourth-year medical student, says more than 900 coats were collected during last year's drive.

For more information about the coat drive or to volunteer with Marshall Medical Outreach, contact Missy Browning at 304-691-1511.
