Sports physicals

Thomas Health System is providing free sports physicals in any one of its Thomas Care Clinic locations or at Saint Francis First. Locations are: Thomas Care Clinic at Thomas Memorial Hospital, 4605 MacCorkle Ave., S.W., South Charleston, 304-306-3053; Thomas Care Clinic at West Virginia State University, James Wilson Student Union, 301 Washington Ave., Suite 004, Dunbar, 304-766-3323; Thomas Care Clinic at Nitro, 6A Bank St., Nitro, 304-304-3058; and Saint Francis First, corner of Laidley and Washington Street, East, 1-844-733-4778. Call ahead for an appointment to minimize wait time.

Museum tour

Historic Morgan's Kitchen Museum, built in 1846, is open from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at its location on MacCorkle Avenue in St. Albans across from Parkway Flea Market. This museum has pre-Civil War pioneer items and cookware.

Sorority meeting

Preceptor Alpha chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority will meet for Beginning Day at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Diehls Restaurant 152 Main Ave., Nitro. President Diane Domaschko will conduct a short business meeting. Bring service items to meeting that were collected over the summer.

CWVCW luncheon

The Charleston West Virginia Christian Women will sposnsor a catered luncheon from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Charleston Women's Club, 1600 Virginia St. E. Charles Grounds of Barboursville will share his story of "Transitions." Tim Hensley, retired CSX engineer, rail historian, author and owner of Trainmaster's House in Kenova, will speak. Robert Ballard of Cross Lanes will provide music. Doors open at 10:15 a.m. Tickets are $16, inclusive. Door prizes will be featured.
