He's coming to Netflix this fall, but actor and musician Scott Patterson will be coming to West Virginia this weekend.

Patterson, who is best known for his role as Luke Danes in the hit Warner Brothers series "Gilmore Girls," will be performing flood relief concerts in Mount Nebo and Summersville Friday and Saturday with his newly formed band, GORDON.

The "blues-based rock band with an edge" will make its debut in West Virginia - an opportunity Patterson said he has been working toward for years. Patterson, who writes the band's music and sings lead vocals, formed the band in early June.

"It's something I've been doing my whole life anyway. I've been in bands since third grade ... It's just an opportunity to live out a long held dream," he said. "I feel this very powerful need to connect with an audience again."

Patterson said he has visited Charleston previously, during his baseball career as a pitcher for the Richmond, Virginia, minor league affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. The first professional game he pitched in was in Charleston against the team then known as the Charleston Charlies.

After the flash-flooding that killed 23 people in West Virginia last month, a fan from Richwood reached out to Patterson on social media asking him to help any way he could.

After talking to the fan, Patterson said the band began planning a trip to perform and give back to those in need in West Virginia.

"Its a perfect fit. I think the best use of a celebrity of any magnitude is to shine a light on causes they feel an affinity to," he said. "Reading about what happened there, it just broke my heart."

GORDON will perform Friday at The Tractor Bar and Grill in Mount Nebo at 9 p.m. The Carpenter Ants will open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $50, and all proceeds will go toward flood relief in the state. Patterson will hold a meet and greet from 2 to 6 p.m. Tickets to that event are $50. For tickets, call 304-872-8100.

Saturday's show will be at the Pavilion in downtown Summersville. The Carpenter Ants will open at 6 p.m., and GORDON is set to perform at 8 p.m. The concert is free, but tickets for a VIP section are available for $25. A meet and greet will be held at Maloney's Sports Pub from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday prior to the concert. Meet and greet tickets are $50.

"We've been trying really hard working to get ready for these shows," Patterson said. "It is going to be satisfying for us seeing a community come together more than it already had."

Patterson has posted additional details about the flood relief shows on his Facebook page.

He and the rest of the cast of "Gilmore Girls" will return for a revival this fall. "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" will come to Netflix Nov. 25.

"We're all really excited," he said. "It's going to be quite something. Netflix is going all out."
