n A reporter for The Register-Herald spoke to members of the LGBT community to gather responses to the mass shooting at a gay club in Orlando early Sunday. LGBT West Virginians said that the root cause of the violence - hatred - must be addressed first. Andrew Schneider, executive director of Fairness West Virginia, said, "We have to find the roots of this hatred and completely eradicate it from our society so we don't have to experience another awful tragedy."
n Three men were shot and killed, apparently over firewood, in Morgan County, according to The Journal. The suspect, Eric Shute, was still at large as of late Monday.
n Strangulation is now a felony in West Virginia, MetroNews reports. Strangulation is one of the leading indicators an abuser will eventually kill a victim.
n A 16-year-old boy was found dead overnight in Fairmont, MetroNews reports. Fairmont police are investigating and have not released the teenager's name.
