The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at West Virginia University will host a town hall meeting from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Thursday at the CAMC Research and Training Center, 3211 MacCorkle Ave. S.E. The meeting is free. One of 119 programs nationwide, OLLI at WVU is a membership organization offering educational experiences designed for adults 50 and older, free of tests and grades. Courses are offered in areas of arts, economics, health and wellness, retirement planning, science and math, and travel. There will be three free one-hour soccer skills clinics offered to students in K-5th grade on Thursday on Kmart's side yard in Scott Depot. The camp will be taught by seasoned soccer players and coaches from the Teays Valley Church of God. The clinic begins at 9 a.m. for kindergarten through first grade; at 10 a.m. for second and third grades; and at 11 a.m. for fourth and fifth grades. Space is limited, and registration is required. The "6 for Life Health Assessment" measures the risk of developing six chronic diseases, including heart disease, congestive heart failure, stroke, diabetes, COPD and lung cancer. The cost is $79. A customized report will determine which risk factors contribute most to your disease risk and are within your control to change.
