The Kanawha Valley Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Dunbar Public Library. The program will be "Today's DAR," presented by Shirley M. Gilkeson, past NSDAR vice president general and honorary WVDAR state regent. There will be a short business meeting. All members, associate members and prospective members are urged to attend. Bring Campbell's product labels and Box Tops for Education.

The Tyler Mountain Volunteer Fire Department will have its annual open house/hot dog and barbecue sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the community building adjacent to the fire station in Cross Lanes. The fire station will be open for tours and will feature the VFD's two recently purchased fire trucks. A silent auction will be held from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and a raffle will be held. Winners will be notified by phone. The Kanawha County Sheriff's Department will conduct their Kid Print Program.

Citizens' Climate Lobby of Charleston will meet from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the WVSU Economic Development Center, 1506 Kanawha Blvd. W. The trip to Washington, D.C. for CCL Lobby Day (June 19-20) is being planned. Lunch is potluck and all are welcome. During the first hour, local activities and future efforts will be planed. The second hour will feature a national call-in speaker, Bessie Schwarz, communications strategist for the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication. Celebrating its 80th anniversary, the Junior League Garden Club is hosting its biennial Garden Tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in Huntington. Proceeds from the garden tour will benefit Huntington beautification projects. Tickets may be purchased from club members or local area merchants: $12 in advance or $15 the day of the tour. Unity of Kanawha Valley will be hosting a hot dog sale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the church, 804 Myrtle Road. New Hope Animal Rescue will be on the other side of the parking lot with dogs that need loving, caring families. There will be photos of cats that need adoption and foster families. Hot dogs, chips, drinks and desserts will be for sale. Ask about the coupon special of two hot dogs, drink and dessert for just $5. The church is located one block before the Bridge Road shops at the corner of Bridge and Myrtle roads.

The Tri-State Amateur Radio Association will sponsor examinations for those who wish to have a new or upgraded amateur radio "Ham" license from the Federal Communications Commission at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Museum of Radio and Technology, 1640 Florence Ave., Huntington. All examination elements will be offered for all amateur radio license classes and there is a $15 fee charged per test.
