Kanawha Circuit Judge Tod Kaufman will speak on Tuesday at Harvard University as part of a lecture series.
Kaufman, who has served as judge since 1988, will speak about his time on the bench for the “Conversations with Kirkland” series.
The lecture program held at Kirkland House, which is one of the school’s undergraduate houses, has hosted Mexican President Felipe Calderon, Secretary of State John Kerry, Larry Summers, Nicholas Kristof, Glenn Close and Alec Baldwin, among others.
Kaufman, whose daughter attends Harvard, plans to discuss the jury selection process, administrative laws and appeals, and criminal sentencing in West Virginia courts.
Kaufman will be introduced by Harvard professor and historian Henry Louis Gates Jr., a West Virginia native.
