HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Several dozen middle school students from Mason and Wayne counties are expected for a crime scene investigation event Friday at Marshall University.
Marshall says about 38 students are expected to become crime scene investigators for a day to solve a mock murder case and learn about forensic science investigative techniques.
The students are from the Heart of Appalachia Talent Search program, one of several federally funded programs established to help students complete high school and postsecondary education.
Marshall graduate students and faculty will host the event, being held at Marshall's Crime Scene House. The house was purchased by the university and reconditioned for students and trainees to use as a mock crime scene facility.
