In Around West Virginia: a 3-D hand for an 8-year-old, greenhouses to be built on abandoned property, a new Day Report Center, and more.
n A Greenbrier East High School engineering class used 3-D printing to make a new hand for an 8-year-old boy. Nataniel Guilmart was born missing fingers and a palm, according to WVVA.
"He'll go home and the rest of the day he'll spend picking up things and figuring out how to work this hand," said Jeanie, Nataniel's mom.
"I feel happy, and I want to thank them that they helped me get a new hand," Nataniel said.
n At least half a dozen Morgantown city employees are expected to be questioned Friday at a hearing on the removal of four city council members from office. The employees were served with subpoenas, according to MetroNews. Council members Bill Kawecki, Marti Shamberger, Nancy Ganz and Jenny Selin are accused of election and city charter violations, misconduct and malfeasance in office.
n A Northern Panhandle nonprofit is reclaiming abandoned property in order to build greenhouses, West Virginia Public Broadcasting reports. Grow Ohio Valley aims to teach residents about healthy food and improve the economy.
n The Berkeley County Day Report Center should open within the next couple of weeks, according to The Journal. Participants will be able to receive substance abuse treatment. They will also be drug tested.
