CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Forecasters say parts of West Virginia could see up to 9 inches of snow.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain Sunday through Tuesday. Temperatures were expected to rise from the single digits Sunday into the mid-30s by Monday as the storm moves through.
The warning area runs from the southwestern corner of the state along the eastern border and includes the cities of Beckley, Logan, Marlinton, Moorefield, Martinsburg and Williamson. The heaviest snowfall amounts were expected in the southern mountains.
The weather service says the Eastern Panhandle could see up to a quarter-inch of ice along with up to 3 inches of snow.
Flooding also was possible Tuesday in some eastern counties as rain combines with snowmelt.
