HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - Camden Park in Huntington faces more than $65,000 in proposed fines after a federal investigation found serious workplace safety hazards.
The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration said in a statement Thursday that it issued citations for 40 serious and five other violations to amusement park operator Waverly Entertainment Inc.
OSHA says the serious violations include employees exposed to fall, electrical, chemical, and amputation hazards; obstructed exit routes not visibly marked; a lack of machine guarding; and no written hazard communication plan for workers that use or could be exposed to chemicals.
Among other violations were a failure to report occupational illness and injuries, and no requirement for employees to use personal protective equipment.
Camden Park manager Jack Boylin says he hadn't seen the complaint and declined comment Thursday.
