CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia officials are looking for applicants for federal grant programs that support certain transportation projects.
The Transportation Alternatives Program funds non-traditional transportation projects like sidewalk construction, bicycle infrastructure and pedestrian and bicycle signals.
The Recreational Trails Program supports the construction and maintenance of recreational trails, like those for walking, biking and cross country skiing.
The first phase of the application process is open until Jan. 15. The second phase extends through March 15.
The grant programs are administered by the West Virginia Division of Highways.
