Local foundation accepting professor of the year nominations

The Faculty Merit Foundation of West Virginia is now accepting nominations for its 2015 Professor of the Year award.

The foundation announced Wednesday it has sent nomination forms to all public and private colleges and universities in West Virginia. The forms also are available online at www.wvhumanities.org.

Each nomination must include specific information about the candidate. That information is then used by the foundation to determine finalists.

Nominations must be sent by Oct. 30 to be eligible for consideration.

Five nominees will be chosen and later interviewed by the foundation. Each will be honored early in 2016 at a banquet in Charleston where the winner will be announced.

The winner receives a $10,000 cash prize, which is sponsored by Graystone Consulting in Charleston. They also are given a handmade glass trophy. The runner-up receives $2,500. The three other finalists receive $1,000.

For more information, contact Ken Sullivan at 304-346-8500.

The foundation has recognized professors of the year since 1984.
