The city of Charleston has received $50,000 from the Frontier Communications' America's Best Communities awards competition.
Charleston was one of 50 quarter-finalist cities. Susie Salisbury, of the Charleston Area Alliance, said last month the organization proposed a variety of uses for the money, including a retail study of downtown, a survey of employers to see how helpful the EDGE project - a young-professional housing development - would be to recruitment practices, and the potential to install WiFi downtown.
