The YMCA of Kanawha Valley is trying to introduce pickleball to the area and will be hosting a Pickleball Meet and Greet at 5:50 p.m. on Thursday at its location, 100 YMCA Drive. Plans for the fall season, scheduling of times/days for leagues, socials, lessons and pick up games will be discussed. The event is free and refreshments will be available. The Advisory Board for the St. Albans Branch of the Kanawha County Public Library is sponsoring a Used Book Sale from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday in the community room on the second floor of the St. Albans Library. Prices range from a quarter to $1. All proceeds are used to support activities at the library. The library will be closed this Saturday. Call 304-722-4244 for information.

Prestera Center will honor International Overdose Awareness Day at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 31 at Pinecrest at 5600 U.S. 60 East in Huntington. The event is free. Local experts will provide brief presentations about how communities are preventing drug overdoses. Free Naloxone training will be provided at 2:30 p.m. by the staff of the Cabell Huntington Health Department and the Marshall University School of Pharmacy. Naloxone is a life-saving opiate (painkillers and/or heroin) overdose reversal drug. Everyone who completes the Naloxone training session will leave with two free doses of Naloxone. A Giant Parking Lot sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 3 at Valley (Wave Pool) Park in Hurricane. There is no rain date. For information, call 304-562-0518, ext. 101, and reserve a space for $15.

Nitro Moose Lodge's Veterans Breakfast will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Sept. 3 at the Lodge, located at 101 1st Ave., Nitro. All veterans and their spouses are invited.
