CHARLESTON, W.Va. - West Virginia officials are looking for a vendor to run a day care center at the Capitol complex for children of public employees.

The Department of Administration has released a request for proposals for day care operators interested in running the West Virginia Public Employees Day Care Center.

Kanawha County Schools has said it will stop operating the facility after Dec. 2. The Kanawha school system has been in charge since the center's inception in 1992.

The new day care group will be encouraged to take over earlier than the Dec. 2 deadline.

Interested groups have to respond by Sept. 9. A contract will be awarded by Sept. 30.

The center serves children from six weeks through five years of age.
