The flood debris collection site at the Clendenin park and ride will remain open this week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, according to a release from Kanawha County Manager Jennifer Sayre. The site will only accept debris from the June 23 flood, and all hazardous materials must be separated, according to the release. Demolition material will not be accepted at the site.

Weeks after the June flooding, Kanawha County is still under a state of emergency and is supporting recovery efforts in the Clendenin and Elkview areas, according to the release.

The Kanawha County Planning Department's mobile planning office will be operating from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday across from the Maywood Ave. post office in Clendenin, the release said. To apply for a building permit, residents should bring any damage assessment information and an estimate of repair costs, the release said.

The last day to register for FEMA Individual Assistance is Aug. 24.

According to previous staff reports, people do not have to visit a Disaster Recovery Center to register with FEMA. Those who have not yet registered are encouraged to do so as soon as possible by visiting DisasterAssistance.gov. FEMA also accepts registrations through your smartphone at m.fema.gov. For those without access to the internet, FEMA has a toll-free number at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or (TTY) 1-800-462-7585 for the deaf or hard of hearing.
