A Charleston man was stabbed last weekend in Sissonville after he stopped his motorcycle because he believed his girlfriend had hit a minivan with her car, police said Friday.
Andrew Edens, 26, ended up being stabbed multiple times in the chest and arms, according to police.
Kanawha County sheriff's deputies are searching for Charleston resident Travis Wickline, 27. They believe he stabbed Edens, and have charged him with malicious wounding.
Edens and his girlfriend were traveling on Kanawha Two-Mile Road early Sunday -- he on a motorcycle, she in a white sedan -- when they came upon the blue minivan in the middle of the road. The minivan's door was open, and Edens and his girlfriend believed she had struck the door with her car, according to Sgt. Brian Humphreys of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office. Humphreys said it is unclear whether the van was actually struck.
Wickline and Morgan Shabdue, a woman inside the minivan, told Edens and his girlfriend they would not provide insurance information.
They then stopped Edens and his girlfriend from leaving, according to Humphreys. Shabdue allegedly stood in front of Edens' motorcycle while Wickline kicked it. Wickline and Edens then fought.
"When the fight was over Mr. Edens drove to a nearby residence where he realized he was more seriously injured than he initially thought," Humphreys said in the release. Police reported earlier this week that Edens was in stable condition.
Edens called 911 shortly before 2 a.m. Wickline and Shabdue did not place a 911 call, according to Humphreys.
On Thursday, detectives obtained a warrant for Wickline on a malicious wounding charge.
