CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Two disaster recovery centers opened after floods this summer in West Virginia are closing permanently this weekend.
The centers are in Monroe County at the Alderson Senior Center and Nicholas County at the Birch River Elementary School.
The West Virginia Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management announced the centers will close at 6 p.m. Saturday.
The centers provide information for recovery assistance for survivors of the severe weather.
The agency says help is still available on the Federal Emergency Management Agency helpline at (800) 621-3362 or, for TTY users, (800) 462-7585. The helpline operates from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week until further notice.
Several other disaster recovery centers also remain open.
The June 23 floods killed 23 people and ravaged homes, businesses and infrastructure.
