Unity of Kanawha Valley will have its monthly Inner Listening class with Marianne Gettman at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church, located at 804 Myrtle Rd. This class consists of mindful breathing exercises, stretching, meditations and Qigong Flow. Inner Listening takes place on the first Saturday of each month. Library community meeting
The Alzheimer's Association, West Virginia Chapter, will present "Alzheimer's and Dementia University for Families and Professionals: from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 11 at Columbia Gas/NiSource Auditorium, located at 1700 MacCorkle Ave. S.E. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The one-day conference is for family caregivers and health care professionals offering continuing education credits for physicians, nurses and social workers. Lunch will be provided. The registration fee is $10 for family and professional caregivers. 4.5 Social Work and Nursing CEUs and Physician CMEs are approved for an additional $20 fee paid directly to CAMC Health Education and Research Institute at conclusion of program. The Advisory Board of the St. Albans Branch Library will hold its annual community meeting at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 16 in the community room on the second floor of the library. Following brief annual reports by the library manager, Melissa Burchett, and the board chairwoman, Rebecca Goodwin, a program will be presented, "Using the Library on Your E-Reader." An e-reader will be presented as a door prize and you must be present to win.
