The Unitarian Universalist Congregation at 520 Kanawha Blvd. has a discussion group that meets for one hour at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday. It is an open forum, inviting all to participate. Paul Dalzell, and possibly other members, will talk about the UUC Clean Water Fund Task Force; a group formed in 2014 to disperse monies donated to UUC to help after the chemical spill. Now revived, the church is helping with flood relief efforts.
Twice Blessed ministry of Christ Church United Methodist, 1221 Quarrier St., will have its fall sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 20. The ministry's mission is to be an outreach to the community by providing quality children's items at affordable prices, assist families in selling their gently used items, and to generate funds that support local children's charities and children's areas of the church. Registration is $7, and consignors keep 70 percent of sales. The remaining 30-percent is given to local children's charities and the church.
