Marshall University's chief financial officer will leave her post on Aug. 19, taking a similar position at University of Montevallo in Alabama, according to a Wednesday news release.
Mary Ellen Heuton, an Atlanta native, has been with Marshall University since January 2009 and has served in her current role since 2012.
"Mary Ellen has led the effort to retool the university's budget and its tuition and fee structure, resulting in significant improvements to our financial processes and services," said Marshall President Jerome Gilbert. "Her guidance and leadership also have been instrumental in keeping Marshall financially healthy through budget challenges over the past few years. Her commitment to Marshall University and its students, as well as her involvement in the Huntington community, will indeed be missed."
The school will conduct a national search for her replacement.
