In Around West Virginia: one West Virginia county plans to sue pharmaceutical companies, a list of those killed in last month's flooding is released, WVU Parkersburg plans for a tuition increase, and more.

n McDowell County plans to sue pharmaceutical companies for shipping an overabundance of pain pills into the county, WVVA reports. The McDowell County Commission voted to file civil action and commissioners have met with several law firms. No treatment beds for drug addiction are located in McDowell County.

n The Register-Herald reports that the mayor of White Sulphur Springs released a list of the names of those killed in last month's historic flooding. In Greenbrier County, the flooding killed Natayshia Nicely, Hershel Nicely, Dakota Stone, Lisa Blankenship, Nellie Hinkle, Belinda Scott, Ed Thompson, Denver Barker, Melissa Deichert, Raymond Clark Jr., Gary Schumaker, Marquerite Parsons, Delmas Parsons, Charles Omechenski and Eleanor Faye VanBuren. Flooding also killed six people in Kanawha County, a child in Jackson County and a child in Ohio County.

n A State Journal reporter spoke to people touched by the opioid crisis. In West Virginia, overdoses kill more than 600 people per year.

n The president of WVU Parkersburg anticipates a 5 percent tuition increase, due to deteriorating facilities, MetroNews reports. The Council for Community and Technical Colleges rejected higher proposed tuition increases last week.
