W.Va. Day celebration

The Kanawha City Kroger is celebrating West Virginia Day with 15 samples of Mountaineer food and other attractions on Monday in the parking lot. Associates will be serving free hot dogs with Custard Stand Chili from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Charleston author Megan Johnson will sign her books, "Dreams Become Reality" and "Dreams Become Nightmares." The Charleston Police Department will provide seatbelt instructions and will give away a limited number of bicycle helmets. The Charleston Fire Department will set up its fire safety house to inform customers on how to escape a smoke-filled house. The Kanawha City Kroger is located at 5717 MacCorkle Ave.

College fair

Strayer University's Teays Valley campus will be hosting an area College Fair from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at its location, 100 Corporate Center Drive, Scott Depot, in the Teays Valley Business Park. Those attending will have the opportunity to meet and talk with representatives from West Virginia Junior College, Mountwest Community and Technical College, BridgeValley Community and Technical College, and Marshall University-Teays Valley Regional Center. Each school will have information available regarding their programs and courses, enrollment requirements, financial aid options, and academic schedules. Refreshments will be available as well as door prizes. Admission is free. For more information, contact Linda Darst, Strayer University, at 304-760- 1708.

Rand community fair

The Rand Community Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in downtown Rand. Table and booth set up is 8 a.m. and admission is free. Games, corn hole, inflatables, playground equipment for children will be featured. Local food vendors, including Dem 2 Brothers and other local groups selling food. Organizations Warrior Wrestling Team, United Way, Riverside and Campbells Creek Youth Football Boosters will have tables and booths open. The Community Center Sewing and Ladies will be displaying and selling homemade quilts.

Housing authority

The Charleston-Kanawha Housing Authority Board of Commissioners will have its annual meeting at 1:30 p.m. June 27 at 1525 Washington St. W.
