Free concert

The Kanawha Valley Band, under the direction of David Williams, will give a free concert in honor of West Virginia's Birthday at 3 p.m. Sunday in Kanawha State Forest, swimming pool area. Bring a lawn chair.

GoalBall

Kanawha City Community Center will offer Goalball at 6 p.m. each Monday in its gymnasium. All ages are welcome. Goalball uses your hearing to try and stop the ball from going in the goal. Players are blindfolded and teams consist of three players each. The object is to listen for the ball, which has bells in it, so it requires silence to be able to play. Bring your own kneepads if you wish. To sign up, contact Justin Ross, program coordinator, at 304-348-6484.

CHAIRity auction

YWCA 2nd Seating Gently Used Furniture store has organized a CHAIRity Auction to benefit YWCA Shanklin Center for Senior Enrichment. The event is a silent auction of painted chairs and original art by local artist celebrating those in their golden years and helping victims of elder abuse. The bidding will be online at www.facebook.com/ywcasecondseating. The silent auction will continue from 5 to 7:30 p.m. June 23 at Romano & Associates, 230 Capitol St., Suite 200, during FestivALL Art Walk where bidding will close. Food and wine will be provided. The event is sponsored by ResCare HomeCare. The chairs will be displayed now through June 22 in local storefronts and at the YWCA 2nd Seating Gently Used Furniture store at 412 Elizabeth St. For more information, call YWCA 2nd Seating at 304-344-1348.

WVAR club field exercises

The West Virginia Amateur Radio club will be holding Field Day exercises from 2 p.m. June 25 through 2 p.m. June 26 at Shelter #1 in St. Albans City Park. This is a once-a-year event to test and showcase the club's ability to establish two way communications throughout North America using only emergency power and quickly deployed radios and antennas. The public is encouraged to come see the operation. Organizations that serve the public can see what Amateur Radio can do for them in an emergency.
