Kanawha County dispatchers received several calls about downed trees and high water Saturday evening after a heavy storm blew through the area.
Dispatchers said the westbound, slow lane of MacCorkle Avenue at the 5500 block of South Charleston was shut down due to high water. The fast lane remained open.
The underpass at Georges Drive in Malden was closed because of high water.
A tree was reported to be down, blocking the westbound lane of Burning Springs Road. Another tree blocked at least one lane on Hughes Creek Road where it intersects with East Dupont Avenue. A third tree blocked the westbound lane of Burning Springs Road.
More than 1,500 Appalachian Power customers were without power as of 7:15 p.m., according to an online outage map.
