BRAMWELL, W.Va. - An exhibit exploring the lives of families in the early coalfields has opened in Bramwell.
The Bluefield Daily Telegraph reports that the exhibit, "Outside the Mine: Daily Life in a Coal Company Camp" opened Thursday at the Bramwell Train Depot. National Coal Heritage Area spokesman Richard Bullins says the exhibit features artifacts and photographs that show the lives of miners and their families in coal towns.
Presented in the exhibit are four components of life in coal communities: the company store, domestic work and activities, religion and social time.
Bramwell Mayor Louise Stoker says the exhibit offers a good look at life in coal communities. She says Bramwell had many of the features of coal camps in the 20th Century.
