Charleston police found the body of a severely decomposed man inside a vacant West Side house on Saturday.
Lt. Steve Cooper, chief of detectives for the Charleston Police Department, said officers responded to reports of a "foul odor" at 105 Maryland Ave. at around 3 p.m. on Saturday and discovered the body, which was heavily decomposed. The body has not yet been identified other than as a white male.
"It had been there for quite some time," Cooper said.
Police are considering the death suspicious, Cooper said. An investigation is ongoing.
