Women who care
The American Red Cross West Virginia Region will host its annual Women Who Care Networking Reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the University of Charleston, Riggleman Hall Rotunda. The event spotlights the organization's volunteers and stakeholders while celebrating the contributions women are making in their communities across the state. Local fashion designer, Morgan Rhea, will be spotlighted. Tickets to the reception are $50 and are available online. Yard sale
The City of St. Albans is hosting a city-wide yard sale on May 21. Yard sale participants who want to add their address to the yard sale map may submit their yard sale location to mysawv@gmail.com or call 304-727-7251. The yard sale is a no-permit, no-fee event. From now until the sales event, map updates are available on the Chamber's website: MySAWV.com.
Al-Anon/Alateen
Al-Anon/Alateen groups offer open and free support group meetings for those that have loved ones and friends that have addictions. Al-anon meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1105 Quarrier St.; at noon Wednesdays at the Kanawha County Day Report Center, 900 Christopher St.; and at 7 p.m. Thursdays in the Edgewood area at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 819 Somerset Drive. Alateen - for teens who deal with the alcoholism and/or drug addiction of a family member or friend meets at 7 p.m. Thursdays in the Edgewood area at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 819 Somerset Dr.; and noon on Fridays at Christ Church United Methodist, 1221 Quarrier St., Room 200, second floor.
