CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - The U.S. Postal Service is looking at moving its post office in downtown Clarksburg to a smaller facility.

Postal Service real estate specialist Richard Hancock says the proposal is part of the agency's mission to downsize its building portfolio.

Hancock tells The Exponent Telegram that the Postal Service is entertaining suggestions for a new site in the city's central business district.

The post office currently is located in a three-story building that also houses the federal courthouse.

Hancock plans to discuss the project at the City Council's regular meeting on Sept. 17. The public then will have 30 days to comment on the proposal.
