A natural gas explosion at a Boone County apartment building injured three people Friday afternoon, a dispatcher said.
Two people had serious injuries and were transported by helicopter to Cabell Huntington Hospital.
A third apartment resident was treated and released from Boone Memorial Hospital, after sustaining minor injuries, a dispatcher said.
The blast occurred at about 2 p.m. while workers were working on a gas line to one of the apartments at 105 Howell Place, just off Josephine Avenue. The workers were reportedly installing a gas heater at the time.
The West Virginia Fire Marshall's office is investigating the blast.
Danville and Madison firefighters put out a small fire caused by the explosion, a dispatcher said. Danville and Madison police, along with state troopers and Boone County sheriff deputies, also responded.
