Family Dinner Project
The University of Charleston School of Pharmacy invites families to come to the dinner table, as they co-sponsor The Family Dinner Project from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the Geary Auditorium, Riggleman Hall. There is no charge. Meet the experts from TFDP and get tips and tricks to bring back to your table. Some of the tips include setting dinnertime goals and overcoming obstacles such as conflicting schedules and engaging everyone in meaningful conversation to improve the frequency and quality of mealtime interaction. The Family Dinner Project is a nonprofit organization currently operating from the offices of Project Zero at Harvard University. Other West Virginia sponsors include April's Kitchen Counter, Charleston Gazette-Mail, Charleston Area Alliance, Kanawha Coalition for Community Health Improvement, UniCare, Kroger, Charleston Family YMCA, Healthy Kids and Families Coalition, and the WVSU Extension Service.
Outback fundraiser
REACH (Rape Education, Advocacy, Counseling and Healing) Outback Fundraiser will be held from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday at Outback located at the Charleston Town Center. Outback will donate 15 percent of the total check to REACH when any customer presents a flyer. Business After Hours
Charleston Area Alliance and Tim Short Acura will sponsor the next Business After Hours event from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Tim Short Acura in South Charleston. Enjoy delicious catering and a festive atmosphere with entertainment by The Pennington Project. BAH events are fantastic opportunities to network and meet the region's leaders in a relaxed setting, all while enjoying food and drinks. The cost is $15 for Alliance members and $25 for future members who register online before 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Prices increase after that time to $25 for Alliance members and $35 for future members.
International sorority
Charleston City Council of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority is having its annual Founder's Day Banquet on Thursday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 401 Washington St. W. Punch will be served at 6 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. President Birdie Wood is conducting the banquet and rituals after the banquet. Reservation deadline is Sunday to Rhonda Ashworth.
Young Women of Distinction
The Charleston Woman's Improvement League Inc. will have its Third Annual Young Women of Distinction Ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday at Grace Bible Church, 600 Kanawha Blvd. West. The program pays tribute to talented young women who are making a difference in their community. There is no charge and a reception will follow.
