Public relations society
The Public Relations Society of America-River Cities Chapter will host its regular meeting at noon today at Marshall University's Drinko Library, Room 138. This month's speaker is Huntington Mayor Steve Williams. Mayor Williams will discuss the city's efforts to engage citizens, businesses, Marshall University students and other stakeholders through public outreach initiatives.
West Side cleanup
Volunteers are needed to join the West Side Neighborhood Association on their cleanup day Saturday. Supplies will be provided. Free T-shirts will be available for workers.
Those interested should meet at Emmanuel Baptist Church at 9 a.m. Volunteers will work until noon.
DAR meeting
The John Young Chapter of the DAR will meet at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Angela's on the River in St. Albans. A recognition of members will be held, followed by election of officers. Bring new or used large print books for veterans. Lunch will follow the business meeting.
Pancake brunch/ boutique sale
Asbury United Methodist Church is having a pancake brunch and boutique sale from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the church at 501 Elizabeth St. E. The cost is $6.
Ramp dinner
Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department will have its seventh Annual Ramp Dinner from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at 3522 Buffalo Road, Buffalo. Ramps, ham, fried potatoes, pinto beans, cornbread, dessert and drink will be offered. The cost is $10 for adults and $8 for kids under 12. There will be live bluegrass music. Lunch and learn
The University of Charleston Graduate School of Business and Leadership will offer a professional development session from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the UC Graduate School of Business and Leadership, second floor, 900 Virginia St. E. Enter through ground floor doors on Dickinson Street. The cost is $10 and includes a registration fee, catered lunch and a completion certificate. Speaker will be Martin "Skip" John Langlois Jr., CIA, CRMA, CPA, CGMA, CISA, CFE, who will speak on "Fraud Investigation Completed But How Could It Have Been Prevented?" Pie sale fundraiser
A pie sale will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 30 on the parking lot at the Ronald McDonald House, 302 30th St., Kanawha City. In case of rain, the sale will be moved inside the house. Proceeds benefit the Ronald McDonald House.
