Are you a Republican who wants to be in the House of Delegates? Do you live in Roane County or the southern third of Jackson County?

If so, now's your chance.

The West Virginia Republican Party is collecting resumes from prospective candidates who would like to fill the vacancy in House District 11, created when former Delegate Bob Ashley was chosen to fill a vacancy in the state Senate.

Those interested in filling the vacant House seat must submit a resume and cover letter to the state party by noon on Friday.

Material can be sent by email to Operations Director Jason Huffman at jason.huffman@wvgop.org; by fax to 304-768-6083 or by mail to P.O. Box 2711, Charleston, WV, 25305.

Individuals will be contacted by the state party about interview times on Friday afternoon. Interviews will then be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at the Roane County Library in Spencer.

A Republican committee from House District 11 will submit three names to Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, who will then choose a replacement from among those names.

The vacancy was created when Tomblin appointed Ashley to the Senate seat left vacant when former Sen. David Nohe resigned his seat to join the state Parole Board.
