A Marshall University professor died over the weekend after suffering injuries in a bicycle accident.
Harold Blanco, an associate professor of institutional technology in Marshall's College of Education and Professional Development, died on Sunday. He had been hospitalized since March 18 with a neck fracture he sustained after falling off his bicycle.
"This is a loss for all of us at Marshall," said university President Jerome Gilbert. "He was an important part of our university family."
In a statement, Gilbert said Blanco was special to many people.
"My sincere sympathies go out to all who knew and loved him."
A Marshall graduate, Blanco also taught at St. Joseph Catholic School in Huntington. He was a native of Caracas, Venezuela.
