Pet adoption event
Joe Holland Chevrolet and Imports will participate in a pet adoption, along with the Kanawha County Humane Association, at 9 a.m. on Friday in the Joe Holland Chevy showroom. Dogs, cats and kittens will be available for adoption and Joe Holland will foot the bill. All adoptions include spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, de-worming, canine heartworm test and preventative, microchipping and 30 days of free pet insurance for pets over 12 weeks. The event continues Saturday at the Kanawha County Humane Association, where Joe Holland will continue to sponsor adoption fees.
Huntington Rotary
Huntington Rotary Club will host Dr. Jerry Gilbert, president of Marshall University, as the keynote speaker at its weekly meeting at noon Monday at the Pullman Plaza Hotel in Huntington. Ballroom dance lessons
Putnam County Parks is hosting Ballroom Dance lessons from 2 to 3:30 p.m. daily, April 10, 17, 24 and May 1 in The Valley Park Community Center located at Valley (Wave Pool) Park. Run/walk
The South Charleston Chamber of Commerce will hold its 2nd Annual 5K Wellness Run/Walk at 9 a.m. on April 9 in downtown South Charleston. Registration starts at 8 a.m. Walkers will begin shortly after the runners start. The race will begin and end in Oakes Field. Adult registration is $25 if postmarked by April 1 and after that date is $30. Registration for children ages 13 and under is $20. Those that register by April 1 will be guaranteed a T-shirt. Those registering four or more people at the same time will receive a special discount of $5 off each entrant's fee. Prizes will be awarded for first place male and female in each age category: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49 and 50-plus.
