Susan G. Komen West Virginia Race for the Cure will have an open house in honor of its 16th anniversary from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 317 Washington St. W. Registration will be taken and team captains picked. Team captains can pick up their team and fundraising materials. There will be new Komen merchandise on display. The 2016 Annual Race for the Cure will take place at the West Virginia State Capitol Complex on May 7. Race registration can also be made at www.komenwv.org.

Sharon Mullins, former art instructor at George Washington High School, is offering a five-week Learn to Draw class from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, March 29 through April 26, at Unity of Kanawha Valley church at 804 Myrtle Rd. Putnam County Parks will present the Battles and Steele Clash at Scary Creek from March 31 through April 3 at Valley (Wave Pool) Park in Hurricane. There will be storytelling, parade drills, ladies' tea, a military ball, Sutlers and re-enactors who will commemorate the skirmish of Hurricane Bridge and the Battle of Scary Creek.
