The West Virginia Humanities Council's 2016 Little Lecture Series kicks off at 2 p.m. on Sunday with West Virginia author Glenn Taylor's presentation, "A Place Called Solid: West Virginia Re-Imagined in the Novel" in the parlor at MacFarland-Hubbard House, 1310 Kanawha Blvd. E. Taylor's book, "A Hanging at Cinder Bottom," was recently reviewed in the "New York Times Book Review," and a previous novel was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. His books will be available for purchase. Admission to the lecture is $10 and includes a reception following the program. Seating is limited. Torchbearer Alpha Chapter Beta Sigma Phi sorority will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Bob Evans on MacCorkle Avenue in South Charleston. Dreamma Guinn will host and the program will be given by Suzanne Patterson. Plans for spring events will be discussed.
