VAN, W.Va. -- State and local officials were on the scene Monday evening of a tanker truck spill along W.Va. 85 in Boone County.
The incident in the Bull Creek area near Van was reported to county emergency officials shortly before 3 p.m.
Kelley Gillenwater, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Environmental Protection, said that DEP officials were on the way to the site to assess the situation.
Gillenwater said that information from local officials indicated the truck was hauling sodium hydroxide, which is also known as caustic soda.
Other details were not immediately available.
