FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. (AP) - Officials say a historic church in Fayetteville will be demolished unless a buyer steps forward with a plan to renovate it.

The Register-Herald reports attorney Carl Harris says the city is willing to work with the owner of the old Presbyterian Church, and has granted 60 days for him to find a buyer or demolish the structure.

The church is listed as a contributing structure to the Fayetteville Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places.

Mayor Dennis Hanson said the structure has been a concern for years, but the structure's fate is in the hands of the owner.

Harris says the town's Historical Review Committee would have to approve the demolition.

Realtor Charles Morton says he's working with the owner to find a buyer for the church.
