MARTINSBURG - Two men have pleaded guilty to federal charges stemming from a multistate heroin trafficking operation.
U.S. Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld II said Thursday that 23-year-old Robert Shanley-Sexton of Gaithersburg, Maryland, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute heroin. Thirty-year-old James R. Dove of Keyser pleaded guilty to interstate travel in aid of racketeering.
Shanley-Sexton and Dove were among 41 people charged in a 163-count indictment unsealed in June.
Authorities say the operation distributed heroin in West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
Shanley-Sexton faces up to 20 years in prison and a maximum $1 million fine. Dove faces up to five years in prison and a maximum $250,000 fine.
