The Kanawha County Parks and Recreation Commission's Finance/Golf Committee will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Coonskin Administrative Office, Coonskin Park.
The Kanawha County Commission will have a special meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday in the Kanawha County Commission Courtroom. Discussion of the proposed dates for the Kanawha County Spring Cleanup and other business matters will be held.
Huntington Area Hiking Club will host a group hike at 11 a.m. Saturday on the Kanawha Trace at Camp Arrowhead in Ona. This will be a more challenging hike from the Boy Scout Camp to the Eagle's Nest shelter, then back, for a total of 10 miles. It is a hilly and strenuous hike. Citizens' Climate Lobby of Charleston will host a public meeting from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at West Virginia State University's Economic Development Center, 1506 Kanawha Blvd. W. Lunch is potluck. Local news will be discussed and a new slide show presented. A call-in to CCL's national meeting will be at 1 p.m. with guest speaker Jeffrey O'Malley, director of the Division of Data, Research, and Policy for UNICEF. Kanawha Trail Club will sponsor a Valentine's Day Hike at 1:30 p.m. Sunday on Kanawha State Forest's Hoffman Hollow. Carpool from the parking lot at the corner of Ohio and Randolph streets, across from the post office. The hike is 3 to 4 miles on moderate terrain. Return to the lodge after the hike for chocolate treats.
The South Charleston Public Library will be closed on Monday for Staff Training Day. The library will reopen at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
