U.S. 35 in Putnam County is shut down after a tractor-trailer lost 40,000 pounds of lumber on the highway around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Putnam County emergency dispatchers said the north and south bound lanes of the highway are shut down at the Putnam-Mason county line.
Division of Highways workers are cleaning the lumber up, and officials expect the road to be closed for a few more hours, dispatchers said.
Highways officials said traffic currently is at a standstill and that an alternate route has not been provided.
