A 17-year-old boy was shot in the elbow Monday evening on Charleston's West Side, according to police.
He was apparently shot inside a home on Hendrix Avenue, according to a release from Sgt. J.A. "Tyke" Hunt, Charleston police assistant chief of detectives.
"The victim does not know why he was shot, who shot him and states he does not know the homeowner of where he was shot," Hunt said in the release.
The victim was being treated at Charleston Area Medical Center's General Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Several officers were taking statements and processing the crime scene Monday evening.
The shooting happened at about 7:20 p.m. The call to Kanawha County Metro 911 came from the 1100 block of Early Street.
