SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va - The South Charleston Fire Department has received a federal grant of nearly $254,000.
U.S. Sens. Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito announced the funding from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program on Friday.
The funds will go toward operations and safety. The money can be used to purchase training and protective gear and equipment for wellness and fitness, as well as to make health and safety improvements to stations and facilities.
The grant program is administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
